Welcome Letter

                                                                                                September 27, 2017
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am very excited to have your child in my physical educational class!  I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with you and your child.  This school year I plan to motivate your child to exercise and work towards a healthy lifestyle in and out of school. I am looking forward to building a collaborative relationship with you in order to have an exciting and productive year.
I believe that teacher-parent communication is extremely important and I encourage you to contact me with any and all questions or concerns.
I will be available by e-mail and school phone. My e-mail /

                        School Fusion Web Site:
Follow the above link to the E.T. Bowser school fusion web site.  Once there, click on “Teacher Pages” in the left column, click on Related Arts then “Ms. Alfaro”.  Here you will find seasonal information on requirements and some of the skills your child will be learning this school year.
In order to promote a healthy environment in the gym for physical education class, all students will be expected to abide by a few main classroom policies.  It is important for you to be familiar with our classroom policies as well as the school rules and policies.
Our Class Policy is to always Play Fairly. Do their best, keep hands to themselves and work cooperatively.
Students must wear athletic, supportive sneakers with securely tied laces.  Loose clothing like sweats and a t-shirt to allow for flexibility with movement is highly recommended. Girls who prefer to wear their school dress or skirt uniform will need to wear shorts or dark tights underneath. If jewelry is worn please limit to small earrings and necklaces must be tucked in their shirt for safety reasons.
Attendance is very important because I see your child on average once a week.  Please make sure your child is here at 7:30 to enjoy breakfast in the cafeteria.  Students who start the day with breakfast are more ready to exert energy when physically active. If your child is frequently absent it will affect their progress.
I have very high expectations for the academic school year, and I am devoted to helping your child succeed!  I believe that all students are unique and capable of learning. My goal is to increase your child’s cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance. Cardiovascular fitness has many health benefits. It can decrease the risk of obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes to name a few. At home you can help by encouraging your child to exercise daily afterschool by jumping rope, riding a bicycle, throwing a ball, skating or just skipping. Throughout the school year I will also include opportunities to strengthen their muscular endurance by combining exercises that include push-ups and sits-ups.
Ms. Alfaro
