Ms. Kathy Shoulars is a graduate of Kean University’s Social Work Graduate Program. For 13 years, Kathy has guided the work of increasing parental involvement and community relations within urban public schools. Kathy’s varied career expertise includes: Social Services, Parental Involvement, Community/Family Relations, School Social Work and Community Outreach.
Since January 2006, Kathy has been employed in the following professional capacities during her tenure with the East Orange School District: Community Outreach Coordinator, Permanent Building Based Substitute Teacher and School Social Worker. Under Kathy’s Social Services Leadership, in the winter of 2008, the George Washington Carver Institute of Science and Technology of East Orange, New Jersey hosted its first Annual One Warm Winter Coat Drive. In her role as School Social Worker for the George Washington Carver Institute of Science and Technology, Kathy has been very instrumental in the development and implementation of parental involvement and community based programs that have increased the level of student achievement and parental participation.
